- Teach you a simple framework to create and cultivate your personal brand and positioning statement
- Help you be strategic about your most pressing career change
Personal Branding and Positioning aims to create a memorable pnemonic for YOU as a product, and create an image in your target audience’s mind that is lasting and uniquely different from rest of the crowd.
The term personal brand is believed to have first appeared in the August 1997 issue of Fast Company Magazine, in an article by management guru and author Tom Peters, who wrote, “We are CEOs of our own companies: Me Inc. To be in business today, our most important job is to be head marketer for the brand called You.”
In this age of information overload, no one has time to spend to know you and your value. Also, it becomes hard to demonstrate how you are different from others when you need to.
Where do you need to brand and position yourself? Practically everywhere. Whether you are looking for a job, trying to take up a different role within the organization, pitching a new idea within or outside your organization, or just trying to be a leader in your community, it matters how people know you and perceive you. Unless you are careful about cultivating your brand, people may have an image of you that doesn’t do justice to your capabilities and potential. When you look for a job, your resume and LinkedIn profile may not do justice to the real YOU that the potential hiring manager would love to meet.
