Career Management in India – guest posts on CubeRules

Cube Rules is a blog where Scott Herrick discusses the perspective of the ‘cubicle warriors’, his blog is aptly named ‘Career Management for Cubicle Warriors‘. Recently, I got a chance to do couple of guest posts there around career management in India (Thanks Scott!). In an attempt to do justice to the topics I chose, I decided to dig deeper into Indian career management situation, why it is the way it is, and it was an interesting journey.

    Hi Mrityunjay

    Saw your posts on Scot’s blog. I know Scot pretty well – I completed an interview with him recently. He’s a great guy.

    He has a picture of ‘Wipro’ alongside the posts. Is that who you work for? It looks like the Bangalore site – it is? I’ve had the benefit of visiting that site?

    Hi Andrew,
    No, I don’t work in Wipro (though I had an offer from them to join when I graduated from college, long long time back!). I am located in US.
    Not sure why Scot put this picture, Maybe because Wipro symbolizes (and of course Infosys too) the great IT revival and growth phase that world has seen from India 🙂
    I did read about your interviews on Scot’s blog and “Great Successful People”, good stuff.

    I was looking for a company that would specifically represent India in the picture and Wipro’s pictures were pretty available on the web. Plus, I’ve worked with Wipro in the past.

    Of course, I could have taken IBM’s picture too in that they have over 10% market share in India — but people would have thought here in the United States that the articles were about the US and not India.
